The 12th edition of the Gordexola Xtreme kicks off this Friday for three days of Hard Enduro racing just south of Bilbao, Spain.

Sherco Factory Racing rider Mario Roman starts as favourite and is aiming for his fourth win at the event. Roman will have to keep an eye on Pol Tarres who has steadily upped his Extreme Enduro game since finishing second to Mario in 2018 at Gordexola.

Local riders in with a shout include Alex Hidalgo, winner in 2015, and Josu Artola, third in 2018. Both are podium challengers racing on home soil.

Divided into three days, the Gordexola Xtreme begins at 9.00pm on Friday, July 5, with a SuperEnduro style prologue that will decide Saturday’s starting order.

Saturday’s race consists in a 45km technical enduro loop that riders will complete three times. The fastest 50 on Saturday then progress through to the Super Final.

10.00am Sunday sees the Super Final kick off with the riders completing two laps of a 45km Hard Enduro loop. The course for Sunday features multiple hard sections and no help zones that the riders will have to complete in the five-hour time limit.
